Monsanto and Me

A Poem by Douglas Polk

Growing corn in Nebraska,
Monsanto and me,
high school days flew by,
joined the army,
sent to Viet Nam,
getting high,
still together,
Monsanto and me,
killing in Asia,
keeping it real,
back home in Nebraska
growing corn,
thought it over
till my children born,
Monsanto and me.

Let Us Move From Lost Dreams Into a Future Where All Agent Orange Victims Can Dream–Part 5

And though it is like this, it is only the flowers, while loved, fall; and weeds while hated, flourish.

–Dogen from his book, Shobogenzo, written around 1290 AD.

Monsanto, Dow Chemical, others–read the above: know this–money and greed falls in the end, but the ugliness you create because of that greed goes on to flourish.

Agent Orange was not beautiful, Dow Chemical.

Agent Orange was not beautiful, Monsanto.

Agent Orange was not beautiful, USA (who still refuses to compensate the victims–one generation, two generations, three generations, four generations, on and on).

Agent Orange was not beautiful…

It will never be beautiful.

But the Deer of Life (the title of the next photograph–also by Eleanor Leonne Bennett) is life bearing and life giving and beautiful with life.

Monsanto, Dow Chemical, the USA–view both of the pictures on this page and do what you know has to be done–compensate the victims and their families for everything Agent Orange caused and continues to cause.

Thank you.

No More Lost Dreams–Part 3

A Painting by Mollie Hosmer-Dillard

Agent Orange was not beautiful, Dow Chemical.

Agent Orange was not beautiful, Monsanto.

Agent Orange was not beautiful, USA (who still refuses to compensate the victims–one generation, two generations, three generations, four generations, on and on).

Agent Orange was not beautiful…

The earth is our mother. Let us not cause it harm. Everything that makes us rich is not money from greed and evil, but from love and caring and letting the mothers know they are safe and secure in this world:

There is not enough research on GMOs and Agent Orange is still held in vats ready to be deployed anywhere in the world. How much harm, Monsanto, has to be caused, Dow Chemical, before we learn our lesson?

Agent Orange was not beautiful, Monsanto.

Agent Orange was not beautiful, USA (who still refuses to compensate the victims–one generation, two generations, three generations, four generations, on and on).

Agent Orange was not beautiful…

Because we are on this planet, we have an obligation to leave it in a better state than in the way we found it.

Possibilities–Part 4

A Photograph by Korey J. Brownstein.

Editor’s note: Can you see the possibilities, Monsanto? Dow?

Do you not see there is more to this world than greed and corruption, than lawsuits and foreclosures, than poisons and despair, than ugliness and the end of biodiversity.

Can you not open yourselves to the light of empathy and generosity?

Editor’s note: Take in a deep breath of color, let out the bacteria and chemicals, swim beyond the breach of the seeds in disarray–and calm yourself through the flexing of body, touch the comfort in light, let the poison of Monsanto and Dow Chemical sink away from you (because they only see the possibilities in anger and angst, in greed and the creation of disease).:

Look to the possibilities, all things are possible (even for Monsanto, Dow Chemical and others by doing the morally correct thing), and so beauty can be beautiful–
